Do you have a picky eater? Do you worry your child is not eating enough healthy foods? Pickiness often surfaces around the time toddlers start to feed themselves. They realize all of a sudden they have some control over their young lives.
Convincing a child to eat something simply because it is healthy frequently turns into a frustrating experience. Toddlers can be quite stubborn about their snacks, especially when out of their home environment and on the go.
What to do? My most impressive trick is to create fun snacks out of fruits and vegetables. These can be easily made in advance and may entice your little one to try something new, particularly if accompanied by a short story about the fruit characters.
Here are two of my favorite fall snacks – decorate bananas with chocolate chip faces or make pumpkins out of tangerines with a celery stem – then pack them up and keep in the refrigerator until you are ready to go. Quick and easy – what’s better than that?
